This piece is the second in my "Memory Tree" series in which I'm exploring Alzheimer's Disease in my family. I use the tree image because it represents a family tree and also because the way a tree grows and branches off reminds me of the neural pathways of the brain. The lace image is transfered into the wax and relates to the lace I associate with my grandmother and again, the intricate patterns of the lace make me think of the complex patterns of the pathways of the brain.
As with the first Memory Tree, this piece is created with encaustic (hot wax) and oil on wood. This piece is 8"x8" on panel which is ready to frame or hang on the wall as is.
